Chondroma is a bone tumour which is composed of hyaline cartilage. Hyaline cartilage is normally located at the end of the bone, where they form joint. In this tumour cartilage is present within the bone. Usually, the part of the bone near joint is involved.
The tumor is generally regarded as aged 20 to 40 years. Also affects males and females. The most common location of the tumor is the upper part of the humerus bone or arm.
These tumours are of two types
those eccentric in bone are called Chondroma (commune of large bones) those located in the centre of the os called EnchondromaEnchondromas are generally located in the small bones of the hand and feet.
More usual symptom is the presence of swelling or the sensation of a lump sum which is attached to the underlying bone. The pain may appear as the tumor grows and impeding surrounding structures. The tumor can remain symptomless and go unnoticed. These tumors can be found when an x-ray is taken to any other condition.
The diagnosis is x. x rays x-ray showed that the tumor area of decrease in bone density. The remaining bones can be clarified and expanded.
Treatment of this condition is by surgery. During the surgery the entire tumor is removed with a fringe of normal bone. The defect which remains is then filled with a bone graft. If a rim of normal bone is not deleted then it is likely that the tumor can grow again.
Incidentally discovered tumors which have no symptoms require no treatment except for regular observation.
